I am a researcher with an interest in urbanization , cities, urban poverty, and the provision of housing and infrastructure in informal settlements. My research explores how locally-generated data can provide better evidence for improving living conditions in low-income urban settings. I work as researcher at the Marron Institute of Urban Management at New York University and teach at the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and the New School Graduate Program for International Affairs. I have consulted for the Gates Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, UN-Habitat and the World Bank and have collaborated with transnational community networks such as Slum Dwellers International and the Asian Coalition for Housing Rights.
