RESEARCH

My research broadly focuses on the identification of critical links between urbanization and the improvement of living conditions for households in rapidly urbanizing areas. I am interested in the greater involvement of civil society in policy processes and  how this can lead to more efficient and equitable policy outcomes. Specifically, I explore the complex environment of urban poverty and show how community groups can act as policy agents by providing operational data that can guide improvements in living conditions in informal settlements. Ultimately, I hope that this body of research enhances collaborations for more inclusive outcomes that take into consideration the priorities, and affordability standards of vulnerable households, and contributes to the development of participatory processes and greater accountability for cities.
